Many measures of cultural identity are actually measures of acculturation (into the dominant society). Additionally, some measures, such as the one developed by Zimmerman, Ramirez-Valles, Washienko, Walter, and Dyer, have been developed to assess enculturation, the lifelong learning process of cultural awareness and understanding.
